Discover the HAYA Club

About Our Club

A youth club for girls aged 11 to 18 with the aim of providing fun and interactive ways for them to learn about Islam in a safe and friendly environment, whilst making friends, acquiring new skills, gaining confidence and self-esteem.

Club structure

The HAYA club operates in 6 week blocks and is structured so that each term we have a session covering the topics below:

  • Creative session: This is the girls' favourite session where we do arts and crafts together whilst discussing an Islamic topic and getting to know one another. This is where their creativity shines and we are always impressed with the things they create!

  • Student led workshops: It is part of our mission to improve self-confidence and this is why we insist that every half term one of the members takes the lead of a session and presents a hobby or interest that they have. They are supported to chose a topic, plan the session, purchase items needed and present and lead the session on the day

  • Professional guests:  What better way to promote confidence and aspiration than to bring in professionals to talk about their experiences, careers and family? Our professional guests are met by our coordinators in order to ensure they uphold the same morals and values we want to promote to our girls.

  • Exploring cultures: Understanding different cultures is very important to us at the HAYA club. Every half term we invite a guest from a different background to tell us about their culture including food, language, traditions, religion and dress.

  • Islamic topics: We love having fun at the HAYA club, but we always remember that our religion is at the heart of our lives. This is why we have a light session on an Islamic topic, but ensure we fill the session with activities and discussions to gain the girls' interest and participation.
